Press Releases

I left the University of Alabama in 1987 with a combined degree in public relations and advertising. Creative writing was my minor field of study, and I had enough hours to consider art photography a minor, as well, but never declared it.

Since college, I have been fortunate to work in the p.r. departments of two very interesting companies.

During 1988-’89, I lived in Southern California and served as public relations coordinator for Saleen Autosport – a small-volume manufacturer of high-performance Mustangs.

In 1995, Eddie Gossage asked me to leave the winter wonderland of Wisconsin, where I was the editor of Old Cars Weekly News & Marketplace, to take a position in his p.r. department at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

I left the speedway in 2001 as part of a company-wide layoff and began writing full-time as a freelancer. The speedway became one of my best clients, and I now produce the publicity material for its two major car shows each year. Most of the press releases and photos I’ve posted in this section come from those Food Lion AutoFair press kits.
